IP over Avian Carriers
1st April 1990, David Waitzman wrote RFC 1149; known as IP over Avian Carriers (IPoAC). The protocol describes the use of carrier pigeons for IP datagram transmission, CPIP (Carrier Pigeon Internet Protocol). It is one of several April Fools Day Request for Comments (RFC).
1st April 1999, David Waitzman wrote an improvement to his protocol, RFC 2549 IPoAC with Quality of Service (QoS).
1st April 2011, Brian Carpenter and Robert M. Hinden released RFC 6214; Adaptation of RFC 1149 for IPv6.
